Your first visit, made easy
New here? This page orients you to Vela Lume — who it is for, where to begin, and how to get the most out of it.
Who this is for
Vela Lume is for women in their 40s and 50s navigating perimenopause and menopause — especially those who feel like something shifted but were never told what to expect. You do not need a diagnosis, a doctor's note, or to be “far enough along” to be here. If hot flashes, lost sleep, mood swings or brain fog are touching your days, you belong here.
Where to begin
You don't have to do everything. Walk these four steps in order — most women find their footing within a week.
- 1
Start with what feels loudest
If sleep is awful, read the sleep guide. If mood swings are running the show, start there. Pick one symptom, not all of them.

Print the 7-Day Wellness Tracker
Two minutes an evening for a week. You log sleep, mood, stress, energy, symptoms, movement, hydration and cycle notes — so patterns show up instead of guesswork.

Read a short article or two
The Journal breaks down what is happening and what helps — plain language, no jargon, no scaremongering.

Meet women awake at the same hour
Community rooms are open 24/7. Lurk, share, ask — no question is too small, and no one is alone at 3am.

Which symptoms & topics we cover
The journal, symptom guide and community rooms all touch the same set — pick whatever is loudest for you right now.
- Hot flashes & night sweats
- Sleep & insomnia
- Mood swings & irritability
- Anxiety & low mood
- Energy & fatigue
- Brain fog & concentration
- Joint pain
- Cycle & flow changes
- Weight & metabolism
- Hair & skin changes
- Libido & intimacy
- Relationships & family
- Work, money & confidence
- Self-care & daily routines
We add to this list as the community asks for more — and we always anchor each topic in what the evidence supports, not hype.
How to use the tracker
- Download or print the free 7-Day Wellness Tracker — one page per day, plus a weekly reflection page.
- Spend about two minutes each evening filling it in: sleep, mood, stress, energy, hot flashes, night sweats, movement, hydration and any cycle notes.
- On day seven, complete the weekly reflection — look for what came before your worst days (caffeine, a bad night, a stressful meeting).
- Bring the tracker — and the provider-questions page — to your next appointment so you can speak in specifics instead of “I just feel off.”
What this site does not provide
Vela Lume supports your journey with information, community and tools — it is not a medical service. Specifically, we do not provide:
- A medical diagnosis
- Prescriptions or treatment plans
- Emergency or crisis care
- A replacement for your own clinician
- Promised or guaranteed outcomes
How to find professional medical care
Nothing here replaces a clinician who knows your history. Here is a simple path:
- Start with your GP or gynecologist — and bring your completed tracker. Specifics help them help you.
- Look for menopause-trained clinicians in our Resources directory — clinics, practitioners, helplines and apps shared by the community.
- Consider a telehealth menopause clinic if local options are thin — useful for a second opinion or hormone-specific questions.
- In a crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately — this site is not equipped for emergencies.
